What's wrong with this picture?

I just "paused" The Next Food Network Star so I could pop a frozen TV dinner into the microwave.

I've never really adopted the concept of "frozen entree" since I am stuck in the 50s -- the era of TV dinners and TV trays.  Now that I've said that, I do all sorts of things that are in conflict with my 50s mentality.  Like eat in front of the TV.  Yes, I did mention TV trays, but they did not exist at our house.  You ate with the rest of the family at the appointed hour of 5pm -- when my dad got off work -- and you ate a balanced meal.  Now I eat at all hours and I never eat a balanced meal, unless you consider a yogurt or an energy bar balanced.  Plus I let the dogs lick things sometimes, like the empty plastic TV dinner tray.  My mom would NOT approve.  But it's probably way down on the list of things my mom would find wrong, way lower than having floors that aren't clean enough to eat off.  I'll never be the woman my mom was.

But back to the initial question -- is it really any more ironic than men sitting on sofas drinking beer and eating greasy snacks while watching fabulously healthy men playing sports on TV?

  1. Oooh - you gave me pause (no not paws) when you said you let the dogs lick things. I was thinking you meant green beans and other types of food before you ate it. Ick. No not really - you wouldn't do that. Would you??
