Co-inky-dink.

Are there really coincidences or not?  You won't find the definitive answer here.

But I will share a couple of recent experiences.  Thursday I took a hyacinth to work for Rod, Marilyn's husband, who I knew was coming to visit the office.  The one year anniversary of Marilyn's death will be on Monday.  Later that evening I received a phone message from Rod that the hyacinth had filled his whole house with fragrance.  Coincidentally, it reminded him of the one he had brought home for Marilyn last spring, shortly before her death.

Another co-worker, Dave, also stopped by to chat yesterday and we ended up talking and crying -- well, I was the crier -- about stories about Alzheimer's and our parents who died from it.  I told him that the pastor at my dad's funeral had to explain what Alzheimer's was.  Isn't that almost unthinkable?  That about 30 years ago, very few people had even heard of Alzheimer's?  Then last night I received a post card wishing me Happy Easter from that pastor.  I hear from him very occasionally -- a few times every decade.  So that was quite a coincidence.  Then I thought I'd see if he was on Facebook.  And he was.  So new he didn't have any friends yet!  I was so delighted to find him.  We've had a few comments about old memories.  He was an intern pastor when we were in grief and was incredibly generous and helpful to us.  People who touch you at those critical moments will always have a special place in our hearts, don't they?

So for me, I tend to believe what the Tenth Insight says about coincidences.  That they are evidence that you are "in flow" or in touch with your purpose.  They are indicators and reinforcers that you are on the right path.

For now anyway.

  1. You're right - there are so many coincidences in life. Karma. It's a bit freaky at times.
